That All May Freely Serve calls for marriage equality in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the passage of both the Authoritative Interpretation and the Amendment to the Constitution that will come before this General Assembly. The Authoritative Interpretation is needed to immediately end the discrimination our polity forces our pastors to practice regarding marriage for folks who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ/Q). The Amendment to the Constitution to change the description of marriage to “between two people” is needed to end the use of our Book of Order as a tool for segregation against people who identify as LGBTQ/Q.

Throughout the 221st General Assembly, we will have dozens of folks at committee meetings and on the floor from Thursday, June 11 – Saturday, June 21, 2014. We invite you to stay in touch, as we share news and welcome your questions and participation, whether you are at the General Assembly or keeping watch from wherever you might be. Peer Chaplaincy: We especially want to make sure that everyone has the support of others during our time in Detroit; General Assemblies can be difficult – and at times disheartening. So, please join us in providing peer-chaplaincy, wherever and whenever it is needed. Send Ray an email at ray@tamfs.org and let us know if you can help – and we’ll send you the details. If you or anyone you know needs some help – contact Ray at the same email address. Booth Location: COBO Convention Center, Exhibit Hall, Booth #204 That All May Freely Serve and That All May Freely Serve – Michigan will be hosting at Booth 204 in the Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall . Please be sure to visit and if you would like to volunteer to help out with booth hospitality during the course of the assembly, please send an email to ray@tamfs.org. Sign-in: We would appreciate it if you would sign in our guest book when you visit our booth in the Exhibit Hall #204. Your name, City and State, and Email is all we need to make sure we stay in touch, especially as we introduce some exciting programs and software in the coming months. We would also appreciate your letting us know if your congregation is a welcoming place for those of us who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning. If you will not be at the General Assembly, you can email us this same information at GA221@tamfs.org. Booth Hours: COBO Convention Center, Exhibit Hall, Booth #204. Volunteers are welcome and needed during “Open to Public” hours. Please email Ray at ray@tamfs.org or just stop by the booth to help.
What We Wish We Had Known: Free Distribution at Booth 204 During the Assembly, we will be distributing complimentary copies of What We Wish We Had Known – The Blue Book. In its 15th Printing, The Blue Book is made available thanks to Mt. Kisco Presbyterian Church, Mt. Kisco, NY with special assistance from the Justice Ministry of the congregation and our good friend and long-time ally Karen Kavey. The Blue Book is an excellent resource for families and friends who are learning how to be present when they come to know a person who is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning. Please pick up two copies – one for you and one to pass on to another. If you will not be at the assembly, The Blue Book is also available for download here: http://www.pcmk.org/blue_book.pdf
